One of the most memorable activities of Scouting is a Pinewood Derby! For those not involved in Scouting, a Pinewood Derby car is a miniature, unmanned and unpowered car. This would be a good event for any families interested in cars or interested in joining Scouting but arent sure where to start! At the Pinewood Derby Workshops hosted by Adventure Base Camp we will be providing templates for the cars, cutting out your car and we will even put the wheels on if youd like! Participants of the workshop can come anytime between 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We will also be offering open program during this time. For a half-day of open program or to just attend the Pinewood Derby Workshop registration cost per participant is $10.00. For a full day of open program or attendance of the Pinewood Derby Workshop with open program registration cost per participant is $15.00. Cars will be available for sale at the event for $5.00.

Winter is coming, theres not a whole lot we can do about it, but we can embrace it. In an effort to bring joy, excitement and something to look forward to the winter months, I will be offering weekly goat hikes. When the weather gets cold, it doesnt mean we cant get outside, get some fresh air, blow the stink off (as my mom would say) and enjoy the beauty that the winter months bring. Join us for a two hour goat hike around historic Simmons Farm, hikes will be led by Farmer Karla and her crew of adventurous, fun loving goats. Each participant will get their own goat to walk on a leash. There will be stops along the way to let the goats nibble, through the hike you will have the full attention of your farmer and you can ask all the burning questions you have ever wanted to know about Simmons Farm, farming in New England, the life of a farmer, or something else, just ask.

We will conclude our afternoon with a warm cup of hot chocolate made with the delicious milk from here on the farm!

Its important for all ages to know some basic first aid and what to do in an emergency! Join us at Adventure Base Camp as we go over first aid for small cuts and scrapes, blisters, nosebleeds, bug bites/stings, nosebleeds, burns and more! Local first responders will even be joining us. This will be taught in a fun and hands on way. Participants will even get to make their own miniature first aid kit! This event is perfect for ages 5 and up. Registration cost is between $10.00-$15.00.

Families of rising kindergartners, sixth graders and ninth graders can make informed choices for their childs fall school placement at this annual event, featuring representatives from 41 Providence Public Schools. Join Save The Bay aboard an education vessel as we motor through historic Newport Harbor and take in 360 views of seals resting on Citing Rock off of Rose Island and the Newport Bridge. $17 for Save The Bay members, seniors and children aged 3-12; $22 for non-members.

Join us at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence in January for the eighth annual celebration of American craft breweries, featuring the best brews the Ocean State and the northeast have to offer.

Be there on January 25, 2020 as we host 55+ breweries with more than 175 beers to sample from. The event will have two, three-hour sampling sessions from 1:00 4:00 p.m and 5:30 8:30 p.m. Each session will feature live music, local vendors and a food court.

Were thrilled to be supporting the WaterFire Providence, a champion of the independent Rhode Island arts scene since 1994. Their mission aligns with our efforts to support our state through the Rhode Island Brewers Guild and local Rhode Island vendors.

We proudly support the attending brewers by purchasing all of their product at the festival. Unlike many beer festivals, there are no booth fees for brewers, we actually pay them to participate on top of donating a portion of every ticket sold to the Rhode Island Brewers Guild.

The Rhode Island Brew Fest is a 21+ event. No one under the legal age will be admitted, including minors, children, infants, and babies. No pets allowed.

We do not cancel classes for winter weather conditions, including wind, snow, light rain or below-freezing temperatures. If we are operating, all scheduled lessons will be held unless otherwise specified.

On the rare occasion, we are forced to close we notify pre-registered students via email and your refund may be applied to a future lesson or refunded. Notifications of closure will be made on our website by 7:30 A.M. the morning of each day.

The United Theatre and The Knickerbocker Music Center are excited to present YOUTH ON-THE-MIC, a new open mic series for 6th to 12th graders who want to perform, sing, or play music (whether original or covers) to an audience. Open mics for adults are plentiful, and so often, open mics for adolescents arent held at actual venues. We are thrilled to offer an alternative, providing kids and teens with a place to play and a community of music lovers eager to hear them.

The first YOUTH ON-THE-MIC will be held at the Knickerbocker Tap Room from 6-8pm. Doors open at 5:30pm and sign-ups for a spot are first-come the night of. Solo singers, solo instrumentalists, and small bands are welcome, but the space is restricted in size with no room for a drum kit.

Come and experience this valuable, out-of-the-box tool for improving our communication with persons with Dementia and those showing signs of Cognitive Impairment. This workshop is for anyone living with dementia, their companions, family and friends, those that are supportive members of the Alzheimers community, and anyone interested in learning more about Cognitive Impairment.

On January 30th, don your deerstalker hat, polish your monocle, twirl your mustaches, brush off your furs, and stroll onto the scene of a 1920s English country house murder mystery at the Providence Athenum. The entire library will transform into an elegant estate, marred by a terrible crime. While you sip, nibble, and socialize, can you follow the clues to lead you to the truth?

The affair includes a live radio play by the Wilbury Theatre Group, a curious photobooth, mysteries and clues for guests to solve, and an extravagant cocktail bar. Proceeds from this evening will directly benefit the Athenums collections, programs, and historic home.

21+ event. Open bar & hors doeuvres served. Event will take place on both levels of the building. English country-house/1920s cocktail attire encouraged.

Event sponsorswill be invited to a VIP reception with early access to the evenings entertainment, plus a special champagne toast.
